I'm Mike. Former owner of a 2001 Grand Prix GTX. 2 days ago is caught fire and now theres nothing left but the rear bumper. The cause is unknown, but was pretty tough to see it go like that. 
But hopefully soon i'll be the proud new owner of a Firebird as soon as I get the insurance money back... A little backround on me. Got back from Iraq in Aug 04, currently in Tampa on reserve status waiting to go back to Active Duty. I hope I can add a little something to this message board and maybe come here to answer some questions I might have in the future.

Hey guys. I'm 21, live in Laval, QC. I'm a university student with barely any time on my hands, which is why I was wondering if anyone can help me out.
I need little help with my 97 Grand Am SE. I'm having a problem with engine over-heating... well not over-heating, but heating up more that it's supposed to. The needle often hits the 3/4 mark, sometimes higher. I'm thinking maybe it's the thermostat, but I haven't had time to check it myself. Oil changes are done every 4000 km, and the engine shows about 260,000 km (I know, it's a lot!!!). Anyone got any suggestions or tips? Would be GREEEEEATLY appreciated!!

Thanks Pat. As a matter of fact, that is what does... heat up, drop down, heat up, drop down, ... And, since I posted that message, I had the car checked, turns out it was the thermostat. Crisis avoided!! Thx 4 the help though!
