Cool 1986 Pontiac Parisienne Brougham

This car kind of fell in my hands as a boy, and then I had no idea what a gem it truly was.

Now years later, I want to revive the old girl and maybe give her some bark.

shes a 5.0L V8 305 with 52,000 original miles.

She needs body work on the passenger side, from previous owners drunken nights. The paint is starting to crack in spots, you have to stare to see it though. So a paint job is in order, some time.

But for now I am concentrating on power, and unleashing the inner beast.
I'm not expecting a fast and furious car, but a nice groan, and off the line instincts would be nice.

I have hooked up a 400w amp, 4 6x9's, and a 12in kenwood sub, with pioneer system so it rumbles. I do not want to spend big bucks on dynomat, but with my trunk closed and that amp at half power my tail lights almost get blown out by that sub.

I plan on replacing the muffler and entire exhaust system, as well as new headers, and anything else I can afford at the time lol.

I will try and have some pics up for next post. My avatar is a birds eye view of her though.

All suggestions are welcome, thanks for reading.

pictures!
i took it in to the shop to get a new exhaust done as muffler has holes in it
they held it for 5 days then told me they would not do it because the stock canadian welds were to strong?

wtf type of an excuse it that...

I want this car to "be all that you can be"..just like me ;-)

looking into a CAI cold air intake, but for some reason cant find any that fit my car...? Do they not make cold air intakes for carberated engines? Auto thing is still pretty new to me lol.
Also looking into an EXCELLENT sound muffler+tail pipe+ exhaust tip ANY SUGGESTIONS? PLEASE!

she is insanely heavy so I know ill never be able to afford to make her go fast or nothing, but it would be nice if I could get enough torque/hp so that she doesnt crawl on on ramps for free way
from 0-50 she will roar but 50-65 takes foreverrrrr

thanks for looking and any future suggestions

Default a 305 with *****? Get real!

So its been a while since I have updated

Recently I removed smog pump, and ac pump/lines.

Replaced stock air snorkel with a chrome dual snorkel spectre intake with the ram hoses to the front(ram hoses are not in place as of yet). Comes with a high flow re-usable spectre filter, not KN but damn close!

I have headers and bolt on turbo raptor mufflers with extension pipes, but these are not installed yet. Should I use heat wrap on my headers, or is it not worth the time money and effort? Copper gaskets my best option?

Also looking into a new carb and intake manifold. My 305 5.0 chevy v8 comes with the quadra jet 4 barrel carb stock, but I want something with a little more power. What would be my best choice for a carb/intake combo.
I have been looking into edelbrock 600-650 carbs, and performer intakes, but honestly I have no idea what I am looking at. I find my self almost always leaning towards the shiniest one I can find, knowing little to nothing about my options.

I also am planning on relocating my battery to the trunk, that way I can fit those ram air hoses onto my air cleaner with ease. What would be the safest, easiest, cheapest way to mount in trunk? I have seen relocation kits go for as much as 200$ and as little as 60$. Here is one offered by JEGS http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/10262/10002/-1?CT=999

Once I have a new carb, intake mani, headers on, etc I will adventure further into upgrades for my beloved pontiac, but until then my goals are set.

I will attempt to add new pics later on this evening. As always thanks for looking and I appreciate any and all advice/suggestions.

Party on Garth!

sorry havent had a chance to add pics yet
some one actually shot out my back window with a bb gun recently
so i havent been driving the pontiac much
i since got the rear window replaced 300$s later

i have added a picture of the exact spectre cold air intake (except i believe my 4inch ports are angled slightly different)

as always please feel free to add suggestions

i am currently eye balling a add on craigslist that reads as such :

" holley 600cfm carb and edelbrock performer intake and 14 inch chrome air cleaner and holley feul pump 80gph and stainless braided line. all brand new " for 300$

also eye balling MSD 6AL INGNITION brand new for 125$

what do you guys think
please respond
i need advice!

Default New year, New update!

So ill try and get some pics up tomorrow.
I recently put 4 new tires on(white walls).
Replaced leaking valve cover gaskets.
Installed a circuit breaker in my 20amp gauges fuse.(kept blowing, quick fix)
Found some bare wires that had been shorting out, causing the gauges fuse to blow. Taped up and stashed away.
Picked up a type of carb spacer, plastic O ring lifter to raise my spectre cold air intake, kit came with multiple heights but to clear my hood I was only able to use the 1inch spacer.
I replaced my copper triangle header gaskets with extra thick (crushable) gaskets, as the thin copper ones had small exhaust leaks.
Also flushed transmission fluid and replaced filter(did not completely drain torque converter as that is a pain in the ***).
Drained power steering fluid, and replaced power steering belt.

Unfortunately I blew a rear main seal, so I have a slow oil leak that is going to be a pain to fix, have to drop tranny to get to that rear main gasket seal.

I will hopefully have my edelbrock 600 carb+ holly contender high rise intake manifold+ new mild cam+lifters+timing set, project finished by summer.
Still looking for the right cam to buy, not to mention money is tight.
Any suggestions on a good cam to match that carb and intake would be greatly appreciated.

I would also LOVE to be able to find some 202 heads, as I have been told the stock heads on my 305 will not flow well enough for that 600 carb...
I will run it regardless

Cool

Michael

thank you for joining us glad you like the old pontiac
here are some pictures I just uploaded from my phone
they are not so recent but give you an idea of whats progressing
they include the exhaust build
some pics on the jack stands in odd positions
pics from a light snow fall this last winter
one is of one of my new 12 inch chrome electric cooling fans (dual 12s)
havent had time to install yet
also multiple oil leaks right now, so until the weather gets nice
and i am in the mood to pressure wash my under body (to find the leaks easier) it can leak a quart a week and thats fine by me
she still runs strong ;-)
i also am uploading some pics of the air intake with my dual 4 inch ported robot arms mounted at the front on the side of the radiator for some ram air
but my left side is blocked by the battery
so until the battery lives in the trunk where it belongs i mounted the left intake hose to the old smog pump bracket facing my fan shroud
looks good to me
i am also uploading a couple pics from last summer after a good wash on the front lawn

come summer time this is my list so far
remove old fan and replace with dual 12 electric fans
remove quadrajet and replace with edelbrock 1406
remove stock intake mani and replace with holly contender intake
remove stock cam replace with mild roller cam(still deciding)
since we are doing cam we must also use hydro lifters
and a new performance timing set (still deciding)
I also need to have the side panels between my rear windshield and side windows re-upholstered, have a nice russian friend who is perfect for the job.

thanks for looking
