Water pump bypass

Water pump bypass
Hi All, being new here, I've obviously got a question. Trying mount an Edelbrock X2 6X2 crossram on a '62 engine, we've run into a problem. The X2, like the Offy dual quads, is designed for 55-early 64 Pontiacs. Both the X2 and the Offy's lack the receptor that the water pump bypass goes in to. The ports for the water crossover are no problem. There's 2 on each side and one pair gets capped depending on the year. That makes the crossover work with heads from 55-early '64 with no problem. The problem with water pump bypass has us stumped. Can the bypass be capped on the timing cover?
Interestingly, Edelbrock P22 2X4's will fit 55-early 64 using the same water port system. However, they do have the receiver for the bypass. What happens if you run one of them on say a 57? Strikes me you'd have a large puddle on the ground from the bypass receiver that has nothing going to it.
HELP, HELP, HELP. Now that I've got that off my chest, thanks in advance, Art
