I have the same issues with my HUD on my 99. It is dark most of the time now and you can only see it every once in a while even in the dark. I never touch the dimmer switch but it gets dim and bright all on its own. GM has replaced the dimmer switch and that did not resolve the issues. does any one have any other ideas?

Strange but true I have been having the same problem with my HUD except now it rarely turn on. Sure is nice when it does work. Any suggestions would surely be appreciated.

I too have the same issue with the HUD. The dash display showing fuel range/oil life also fades in and out/resets too. I'm thinking new alternator? I've already replaced the leaky battery that was installed when i bought the car.

its actually a "cold solder" problem. there is a fix for it, which involves taking the unit out and correcting the solder joints. i helped fix one a few months ago
