When it hit 2000 RPM it dies!!!!
Hello, I own a 1994 Bonneville. The problem is that when the engine hits 2000 RPM it stalls. It fires up cold and hot with no problem, if I let it sit in 1000 RPM it can run out of gas with no problem.
Only when the engine hits the 2000 mark it stalls and delivers no fault codes.
On the 2000 RPM mark if I accelerate slowly, very slowly, the lights on the cluster will flash on and off all of them. If I have a scanner connected by the time the engine hits 2000 RPM's the scanner flashes on and off too.
A friend told me that it has to do with a chip on the computer that overheats. But if the engine is in idle it can run all day.
If I forced by accelerating beyond 2000 RPM the alternator does not charge. Only when I do this the alternator fails.
Please help!!!!!!
