Default 97 Grand Am A/C problem

Im trying to find some info for my moms Grand Am. Its the 3.1 engine. The A/C stopped putting out cold air. I feel like an idiot but I seem to be having a hard time locating the low pressure valve. I see the high pressure valve and I found another valve just coming off the compressor under the car. That doesnt seem to be right because I couldnt get any recharge to go in.

Any help would be much appreciated.

i am not certain where the low pressure valve is...if no one here can help you, a GM dealership parts department should have a schematic that shows where everything is.

Big Cuba:

I just got back into town, so I missed your post until now. I don't know for sure if the low pressure valve is the same on the the 3.1 as it is on the 4 banger dual quad, but if so, it is right down here near the AC compressor on the passenger side of the car. Wear gloves because it is hot and nasty down there, I think the cap is blue and you have to unscrew that and attach the freon 134 to it. I had a really difficult time finding it on my G-AM. No AC shop professed to knowing where it was. Look near the AC compressor though, and look for a blue cap. Goo
d luck!
