95 grand am ignition switch circuit problem
hello members
i have a 95 grand am 3.1 automatic with air with a ignition circuit problem. my sisterinlaw bought this car, after 3 week it needed a ignition switch which i changed because the ignition circuit 3 contact was fried. 3 months later it fried again. this time a ran a current draw check on that wire and at idle it has a 9.5 amp draw and as you rev the engine it raises up to 11 amps which makes the wire hot. one thing i did take notice to is when the key is turned to run the priming relay activates the fuel pump and i get a 8 amp draw then drops to 2 amps and stays there. i replaced the fuel pump before the second ignition switch change so im wondering if i bought a faulty fuel pump, does anyone know how much the fuel pump should draw or any other sugestions on what else to check? thanks ahead of time any help would be greatly appreciated
