Default 96 trans am heater hoses

I have a 96 trans am V-8 need help with heater hose issue. 1 of the heater hoses to the water pump blew at a joint that I'm guessing was a 1 way check valve , can I just put a splice in its place ? The other heater hose has what I think is a air bleed screw , can both of these be replaced with plain bulk hoses without that stuff , they are rivited together what is the correct way to remove these from the car , I've tried everything , are these dealer only items if so how much $ How hard is it to replace the water pump Any help would be greatly appreciated my son is afoot and Ive got to drive him back and forth to work I need to fix it ASAP emai hotrodtodd@suddenlink.net cell (580)548-6794

Looks kinda hefty to bring your car to the dealership, they'll just rip you off with some bucks - the reoccurring problem.
