Default Starting Issue

Hey ya'all. I have a 81 trans Am SE's. It has a 72/73 455 in it, and the rest seems stock. Well, I changed the starter solenoid and since doing, it won't start, but every thing else seems fine. There's 12 volts accross the solenoid. When turning to start, the 'brake' light comes on, and volt meter goes to the far left. If anyone can maybe help me, I'd appreciate it.

Are your wires in the same spot, it seems to me that my 79 has 3 studs on it but only 2 are used.

I better explain better. The starter solinoid is on the left, inside fender, not on the starter. It had four connections on it, but only 3 are used, left side has wire to starter, right side has battery pos cable, and a yellow carble, and there is a light cable that that goes into the 'I" (IGN I think) attachment on the selinoid. I have not had the car up yet, so see what is actually at the starter.
It's just wierd that everything works, and it will crank if you jump the two sides of the starter solinoid. I'l lost as to where to start, as it seems it's from the starter solinoid back to the key area?
I appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks again for getting me started, anyway.

Have you tried moving the wires to other spots on the solenoid maybe they aren't hooked up right.

Hey Firebird79350, thanks for you reply. I took pictures, and wrote down narative on the wiring before r/r of the it. The two yellow wires, one has the bigger connector, that goes on with the hot side, and the other yellow connection doesn't fit there, it fits on the smaller S connector. I really try to document stuff well, and I think I did. So at this point, I think the key to this is when I do turn the key to start, the brake like comes on, and the voltmeter goes to the far left.

I'm still trying to figure it out. Thanks for checking me out on things as well.
